You probably already know this, but we'll say it here so that you know we know it:
Effective democracy requires educated and informed citizens.
This is a tall order, arguably one that has never been filled, but we have a moral and civic obligation to do the best we can.
For our part, we are interested in helping students navigate a complex information space, recognise distinctive elements of high quality information, cultivate a nose for bullshit and propaganda, develop curiosity and empathy, and be aware of the wider sweep of history and society.
It's not just about developing advanced writing skills, it's about developing advanced writing skills for pro-social and pro-democratic purposes.
Again, a tall order, and one we can't hope to achieve in full.
But we have a moral obligation to do the best we can, and we see Writelike as part of that mission.
