The group consensus

Having described the two characters, we can summarise how the rest of the group feels about the one who doesn't fit in:

His character was decided. He was the proudest, most disagreeable man in the world, and everyone hoped that he would never come there again.

We can break this snippet into three pieces:

  • Preparation: A statement that sets us up for the judgment, without giving away the content.
  • Judgment: What they think of the character who doesn't fit.
  • Consensus: What they agree would be a good outcome.

The girls agreed. She was the rudest, most selfish lady they had ever met at the community centre, and something would have to be done to force her out.

A consensus was formed. Clem was a moron who was likely to get them all killed, and the crew agreed it would be better if he met that fate first.
