- Make the environment active, not just the characters.
- Expand heavily.
- Use connectors to help you construct long sentences: which, and, though, that, after, for...
- Find some juicy, intense actions and qualities.
- Use the descriptive details to advance the story—each new element should make Bella's situation worse.
