The round instructions focus on developing an emotionally engaging narrative:
- R2 Establishing a platform & character.
- R3 Tilting the platform & forcing the character to adapt.
- R4 Changing the character & resolving the tilt.
The narrative instructions are sandwiched between what could be considered character & logic modes:
- R1 The speaker acknowledges the audience’s situation.
- R5 The speaker draws a connection between the story & the persuasive goal.
As always, you can customise these instructions however you like.
The goal is to show students how narrative & persuasive writing often work together.
