Persuasive narrative

The persuasive narrative set of Frankenstories prompts is intended to help students play with using narrative for persuasive purposes.

The prompts are organised into specific & general variations on the persuasive goals:

  • Change thinking
  • Change feelings
  • Change actions

The round instructions focus on developing an emotionally engaging narrative:

  • R2 Establishing a platform & character.
  • R3 Tilting the platform & forcing the character to adapt.
  • R4 Changing the character & resolving the tilt.

The narrative instructions are sandwiched between what could be considered character & logic modes:

  • R1 The speaker acknowledges the audience’s situation.
  • R5 The speaker draws a connection between the story & the persuasive goal.

As always, you can customise these instructions however you like.

The goal is to show students how narrative & persuasive writing often work together.
