This lesson has been about different ways of describing historical art & technology.

For our checkpoint piece, you need to choose one of the approaches we've covered:

  • Describe a specific artifact.
  • Describe a historical art or technology in more general terms.
  • Or describe how an art or technology was created or used.

Choose a subject: Choose an art or technology from the world around you. You can choose whatever you like, but we've suggested fidget spinners.

Give it a title: Give the piece a title that explains what the subject is and what approach you'll be taking (for example, "Description of a 21st century fidget spinner found in the ruins of Neo-Tokoyo" or "General description of fidget spinners in the 2020s").

You can make up the details but try to make it sound like you're a real historian.

Make sure you cover when, where, what, and so what. They can be in any order!
