This lesson pulls together some of the dialogue, action, and character elements from the Narrative Basics course. We take a short two-person dialogue from Kate diCamillo's The Tiger Rising, in which a shady dude reveals a caged tiger he is keeping in the woods, and outlines his plans for it. We break the snippet into fragments, model patterns in each fragment, and then recombine. At the end, we create a checkpoint piece. This is quite a challenging lesson, with some subtle patterns. The lesson probably takes 1-2 hours in total, depending on the level of student ability, engagement and teacher support.
