Quick recap

Dwarf and Elf

Let's quickly check on what we've learned so far:

  • People, things, and actions can all have qualities which make them distinctive.
  • The word we use to describe these qualities are called adjectives and adverbs.
  • Adjectives are generally used to describe things, while adverbs are generally used to describe actions.
  • Adjectives can come in groups of two or more words, joined by commas and/or 'and'.
  • Adjective groups usually appear embedded in a noun group, between the pointer and the noun.
  • When we are describing the state of something or someone, the adjective group will hang off a 'being' verb after the noun.

So far so good!

In the next section, we're going to take a closer look at the individual components of an adjective group, because different words in the group have different jobs.
