X-ray vision for arguments

Girl looks at building with x-ray specs

The goal of this lesson is to give you x-ray vision for arguments

Arguments come in all shapes and sizes, from simple one-line ads to complex multichapter book-length arguments, and arguments about big topics can be difficult to understand and challenging to make.

However, deep down, all arguments are built from the same eight basic components (even if it's not obvious on the surface).

If you understand those eight components, you'll find you can deconstruct any argument in front of you, almost like you have x-ray vision.

(And, knowing how arguments are built, you'll find it much easier to make your own.)

Now we're going to look at all the pieces required to build an argument from the ground up.

(And not just some random flimsy argument, but one that's strong and sturdy.)
