The Jumbies
Narratives are almost always set in a physical world of objects and places. This checkpoint activity encourages students to create a vivid picture of a world by blending character action, history, physical details, and the meaning and value of things in the world. We use a snippet from Tracey Baptiste's The Jumbies as a model. This is the last in a series of activities that target different aspects of describing places and objects in a world.
