In this lesson we model the opening of Storm Boy, which establishes the coastal location of the story. This descriptive passage takes long-distance perspective that captures geography and season, and creates a dynamic portrait of a natural system. While the story is simple and directed towards middle years student, the language has a mythical, poetic quality that is challenging to reproduce.
