Important differences

It's worth pointing out a few key differences between The Writer's Practice and Frankenstories, and how we've adapted John's writing activities to suit the Frankenstories format.

The Writer's Practice assumes a week for a given activity, which includes time for research, revision, and often some test of the result on an audience.

Frankenstories is more often a quick, one-off activity. So most of the prompts zero in on the middle of any given Writer's Practice activity and scaffold the drafting step.

The Writer's Practice experiences are often driven by personal interest and experience, whereas Frankenstories is, by default, a group writing activity.

We have designed the prompts so that they work in a group, but they will also work as single-player games if you want to create an entirely personal writing experience.
