Like playing Frankenstories? We have good news! We're now running a monthly prompt genre challenge.
Play this month - the winning class gets to help us create a new avatar and gallery image for everyone to enjoy!
This month's genre challenge: poetry - write a haiku 🪶
For our first challenge, we're warming up with something that's easy to learn, hard to master: the haiku!
How to participate
1. Teachers will need to be registered with a Pro plan (free trial or paid) to enter the challenge.
2. Visit our genre challenge page (find in Discover) and open this month's prompt, the Haiku.
3. Select "USE PROMPT" and start a new game. Do not ‘copy settings’ from someone else’s game.
If you'd like, you can change the image, or tweak round scaffolding instructions to better suit your class, as long as the underlying genre is preserved (review the associated lesson on Writelike if you want to check - it's linked on the haiku prompt too).
4. Play the game with your class through to completion. That's it! You're now automatically entered.
Teachers new to Frankenstories may like to watch this video before getting started. We have more help videos and a resources page if you'd like to check them out too.
About the prize
We often hear from teachers that students enjoy our avatars, and wish they could design their own prompt images.
So we're giving winners the chance to submit 3 ideas for avatars and images for your prompt of choice, to be created by the Frankenstories/Writelike team.
The Frankenstories team will select a winner during the first week of the following month.
Here's some of our top avatars at the moment - cute dogs, cool cats, mushrooms, rocks, and robots! What could your class help create?
And here's a prompt image we made for a Frankenstories-loving class in Alberta, Canada, after they sent us some pictures of their town and info about their class.
That's it! We'll have new topics released at the start of each month, so if this challenge theme doesn't quite fit your class at the moment, keep an eye out for next month.
We look forward to reading everyone's entries.
