Looking for funding to bring Frankenstories Pro to your classroom? The NEA Foundation's Student Success Grants program is accepting member applications until February 17, 2025 for projects up to $5,000 that enhance student learning experiences.
These grants help individual teachers or support staff purchase classroom resources and organise engaging learning experiences that develop students' critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.
(You could apply for all sorts of reasons: browse a list of previous grantees to see the variety of ways in which teachers have used this funding.)
We don't have any experience or affiliation with this grant, but it does look like Frankenstories aligns with the criteria for these grants. Frankenstories:
- Transforms writing into an engaging team sport that builds collaboration skills
- Creates an authentic peer audience that motivates even reluctant writers
- Develops critical thinking through rapid ideation and peer evaluation
- Supports cultural understanding through shared storytelling
- Provides real-world writing experience through its social, game-based format
So it could be worth a shot.
However, the program does have a minimum grant budget of $1,500 which is high when a Frankenstories Pro subscription is only ~$36/teacher/yr. (That minimum budget would cover more than 40 Frankenstories Pro subscriptions!)
Possibly you could ask for subscriptions for teachers from an entire school or district, but we're not sure this is eligible because the grants are meant to be for an individual teacher. (If you want to ask, you can contact GrantsAndPrograms@nea.org)
Alternatively, you might want to consider bundling other things:
- Writing workshops with professional authors (we can connect you with our network)
- Supporting materials for creative writing and peer collaboration
