With our friends at Seven Steps to Writing Success, we're running an extra Finals Fever challenge this September to celebrate the AFL and Rugby footy finals seasons.
Play any of our three footy-themed games — the winning classes get to help us create new avatars and gallery images for everyone to enjoy!
How to participate
- Teachers will need to be registered with a Pro plan (free trial or paid) to enter the challenge.
- Visit our Finals Fever challenge page and choose from three footy-themed prompts: narrative, persuasive, or informative.
- Select "USE PROMPT" and start a new game. Do not 'copy settings' from someone else's game.
- Play the game with your class through to completion. That's it! You're now automatically entered.
Rules
If you'd like, you can change the image, or tweak round scaffolding instructions to better suit your class, as long as the genre is preserved. Want to do a different genre? You're welcome to make a variation on the prompt or send us an email and we will make one for you. (Any footy poetry classes out there?)
You can submit as many games as you like — each will be judged separately.

This Finals Fever challenge is in partnership with our friends at Seven Steps to Writing Success, who have a footy finals activity in their collection that complements these Frankenstories prompts perfectly.
About the prizes
Winners get the chance to submit 3 ideas for avatars and images for your prompt of choice, to be created by the Frankenstories/Writelike team — just like our monthly challenges.
Challenge details
Finals Fever runs through September 2025. As with our monthly challenge, if you complete a footy game we'll consider it to be an entry and judge it with the others.
If we have NFL fans who want to join in, send us an email and we will make an NFL set of game templates.
