Narratives are almost always set in a physical world of objects and places. In this activity, we look at how to position objects in space, and show the relationships between the things in a scene, using a simple Focus-Position pattern. We touch on prepositions as a grammatical tool for showing position, but note their limitations. We use snippets from Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Blood and Bone and Erin Entrada Kelly's The Land of Forgotten Girls as models.
