- In most narratives, characters will want to talk to each other. But why? What are they doing? This checkpoint activity encourages students to write rich, authentic dialogue by considering what characters are trying to do with their speech, their emotions, and their voices. We use a snippet from Fracaswell Hyman's Mango Delight as a model. This is the last in a series of activities that target different aspects of dialogue.
