Checkpoint piece

For a checkpoint piece, imagine a speaker is trying to build trust with an audience. We've seen a few ways they might do it:

  • Show their expertise.
  • Be relatable, by presenting themselves as just like you.
  • Distance themselves from a competitor or opponent. ("I'm not like them!")
  • Present themselves "honestly", warts and all.
  • Show their virtue (or even better, have someone else attest to their character).

Using this image for inspiration, write a brief persuasive speech, ad script, or other persuasive text, focussing on presenting a trustworthy character. You might go all in on one method, or blend a couple.

Using the image for inspiration, how might this speaker present their character to an audience in order to build trust? (Write 3-5 statements or actions.)
