Taking it to another level

Here is another example of using a dash to expand on the last point in a sentence.

This pattern can be called “taking it to another level”.

I was almost 15 and experiencing all the intense, confusing feelings that overwhelm any teenage girl at that age—let alone one made to move to a new country.

It was a big balloon—bigger than a house.

She had won the race by a mile—and faster than anyone else in history.

They spent months working on the game and in the end it turned out to be way too expensive—not to mention completely unplayable.
